Providing Continuous Reliable Operation

The substation gateway performs a critical function in your automation system. It must provide continuous fail-safe operation in a harsh environment.

Substation-Grade Hardware

Cybectec's SMP Substation Gateway is designed for the substation environment. It meets or exceeds all applicable requirements—

  • IEC-61850-3 EMI Immunity Type Tests
  • IEEE-1613 EMI Immunity Specifications
  • IEEE C37.90 and IEC 60255 Protective Relay Standards
  • TIA-968-A and CS-03 for Telephone Terminal Equipment
  • CE Marking for Low Voltage Electrical Equipment

Redundancy

Even when it is designed to meet the most stringent requirements, a hardware component can always fail unexpectedly. The SMP redundancy features can protect your most critical assets and ensure continuous fail-safe operation.

The SMP is the only substation gateway that provides a completely integrated approach to system redundancy—

  • Failover clustering ensures that a standby SMP will automatically replace an active SMP in case of hardware, software or network failure.
  • Hot standby keeps the active and standby SMPs synchronized in order to reduce failover delay.
  • Redundant master and slave connections protect against the loss of a communications link with a device or control center.
  • Dual Ethernet ports provide full LAN redundancy.
  • Redundant device support for dual protection schemes using the "best-of" automation function.
