Cooper Power Systems Joins Industrial Defender Enabled
Partner Program
Partnership will Strengthen Cooper Power Systems
Position as an Industry-Leading Substation Integration Solutions Provider.
Quebec City, June 18, 2008 - Cooper Power Systems (CPS), a
division of Cooper Industries, Ltd. (NYSE: CBE), announces that it joins the
Industrial Defender Enabled Partner Program. This program allows technology
providers focused on the industrial control systems and SCADA market to
collaborate on expanding their technology offerings, providing end customers
with comprehensive cyber security solutions.
Cooper Power Systems’ Cybectec solutions, with their advanced security
features, offer the benefits of IED integration and remote access within a
secure NERC CIP-compliant framework. By leveraging the Industrial Defender
Enabled Partner Program, Cooper Power Systems will have the opportunity to
take advantage of Industrial Defender’s NERC CIP compliance solutions and
expertise, strengthening its position as an industry-leading provider of
secure substation integration solutions.
“This partnership plays an important role in Cooper Power Systems’ NERC
CIP compliance program,” said Benoit Masson, product line manager, Cooper
Power Systems. “CPS’ Cybectec solutions have been on the leading edge of
substation integration and automation for years. While we are bringing these
capabilities to the corporate level, we are taking all the necessary actions
to guarantee that our solutions meet and exceed the stringent NERC CIP
requirements.”
Cooper Power Systems’ solutions will go through a comprehensive
technology validation process to be certified as “Industrial Defender
Enabled.” This certification will allow monitoring of CPS’ solutions by the
Industrial Defender Security Event Management (SEM) console, enhancing the
cyber security posture of the SCADA network. Customers who purchase an
Industrial Defender SEM console can monitor all Industrial Defender Enabled
devices on the SCADA network from a single console device.
“NERC CIP compliance has emerged as a key factor in shoring up the bulk
electric industry’s SCADA and cyber security network systems, but with a
large number of legacy systems in place, it’s difficult to become compliant
overnight,” said Brian M. Ahern, president and CEO, Industrial Defender.
“This is why Industrial Defender is committed to sharing our expertise and
technology to enable industry leading partners like Cooper Power Systems to
seamlessly achieve their compliance and cyber security objectives. Because
the threat landscape is dynamic and will continue to evolve, we need to work
together to keep our nation’s critical infrastructure systems compliant and
ultimately protected against both emerging and existing cyber security
threats.”
This program also creates value for Cooper Power Systems and Industry
Defender, through integrated technology solutions, co-marketing and
demand-generation programs. Partners can leverage Industrial Defender’s
unique end-to-end Defense in Depth™ approach to cyber security, which
includes network security professional services, cyber security technology,
and managed security services.
By collaborating with Industrial Defender, Cooper Power Systems will take
advantage of the company’s market expertise to fortify its solutions with
enhanced cyber security protection.
